To the Editor: Carnegie Heritage and Arts Center has received three paintings from the family of Muriel Baughman. The paintings are a gift from Donald's widow, Mrs. Hazel Baughman of Lafayette. Muriel Jolley Baughman lived in West Lafayette, and had an active interest in art early in life. She attended Purdue University, where she met Ray G. Baughman, a Linton native. They were married, had one son, Donald, and lived all their lives in Linton...

Growing up, the Thanksgiving holiday was more about fun than food. It was common for families to be larger, rowdier, and very close to one another. We always celebrated on Thanksgiving Day and gathered at the grandparent's house. The promise of grandma's turkey or chicken (raised in a coop) along with mash potatoes and green beans (grown in her summer garden) followed by homemade pumpkin pie made us jittery with anticipation. ...

Linton woman facing theft charges

A Linton woman now faces preliminary charges of theft after stuffing her purse with goods in Save-A-Lot. On Nov. 6, Angel Walls was spotted shoplifting by Linton Save-A-Lot Store Manager Joby Cox -- who then reported the incident to the police. Linton resident Dorothy Carpenter enjoys being at the hospital, not as a patient, but as a volunteer. Dorothy recently was recognized for passing the 11,000 mark for volunteer hours at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.
