Reward offered for info in overnight break-in at store in Owensburg; Suspects caught on security camera

An overnight break-in at C.B. Hatfield Mercantile in Owensburg has been reported to the Greene County Sheriff's Department and the store's owners are offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of two suspects caught on video surveillance.

The owner of the convenience and general store says this break-in occurred at 11:36 p.m. on Sunday, August 30.

The owner reported photos from the store's security system shows two suspects on camera and on video.

According to the owner, both suspects are male and both appeared to be in their late teens or early 20s. One individual, with long dark hair pulled into a ponytail, was wearing shorts, a dark t-shirt and white shoes. The other individual, with short lighter-colored hair, was wearing jeans and a dark t-shirt.

This case is currently under investigation by the sheriff's department.

  • Police asked us not to release the video to the public as of yet. I am still attempting to get a clearer facial picture of the individuals. We have been given names from several individuals already and hope that these 2 are caught sooner than later before damaging any more buildings or stealing anything else. This is not an easy business to run and this kind of behavior is discouraging but will never be allowed. Thank you to everyone who has helped us so far and to anyone else who may provide information later. And thank you to everyone who supports our business!
